| Hello there my fellow movie lovers. If you've found your way in here it means that you, just like me, are addicted to the great medium of movies. This little oasis on the net is dedicated to those people in the movie business who keeps making our boring lives a little bit more interesting and fun. Your guide on this site will be me, Tobias Kleväng a 27 year old lunatic from the beautiful country of Sweden. Ever since I was a pint high I've been fascinated by movies, and now writing my own scripts both feature length and shortmovie scripts. The future will tell what's going to happen to that one..hmmm. Anyways, I hope you'll enjoy your stay at my lounge and that you try out my trivia or maybe write your own little movie review in the Review section. Maybe you have some favourite movie quotes that you'd like to share. Enjoy! | From Steven Spielberg to Federico Fellini, from "Rocky" to "Citizen Kane, the medium of movies have thrilled and entertained people for more than 100 years. Whether it's a mad scientist trying to invent a superhuman, or a german industrial leader trying to save jews during the WW2, the images, the sounds and the stories of movies mesmerize us when the lights go out in the theater and hundreds of strangers are closely knit together for some 2 hours. From FADE IN to FADE OUT we're brought the best and worst scenes that one possibly could come up with. Movies are surely the most powerful medium today, having an effect on both old and young, white or black. From action movies to drama movies we find an escape from reality and are thrown into the magical and mystery world of CINEMA. Lights out! |

So, the first 100 years of movies have been taken care of,
we're now looking forward to see what the 21st century has to offer us buffs. A number of movies dealt with the new year eve of 1999, the day the world would come to an end ("End of days") or we'd be living out our fantasizes in the virtual world ("Strange days" "Virtousity"). I'm glad to see we're still here and I'm sure we won't be having space flights as common as they are in Kubrick's "2001-a space odessey" next year. Who will be this century's most hailed filmmakers then? There are a bunch of promising young talent out there. Kevin Smith, Paul Thomas Anderson, Harmony Khorine, Andrew Niccol, Ed Burns to name a few. The ongoing trend in the filmbusiness with raw talents like the above shooting lowbudget flicks will most certainly continue for another couple of years. But my bet is that in ten year's time we will be going to see movies in IMAX theaters, with a dome around us, enhancing the experience to almost reality. Although the digital technology makes it possible for even the aspiring filmmaker to shoot his film I still believe it's a very action oriented area. Filmmakers like Woody Allen, Jim Jarmusch or Edward Burns directors who mainly does dramafilms won't be rushed into the digital era too soon. However, when talking about digital filmmaking one has to remember movies such as "Toy Story", "Small soldiers" etc, kids movies who would never be possible without the digital technology. Anyway, it'll be a very interesting start of the new millenium with the Swedish premieres of "American beauty", "Summer of Sam", "The green mile", "Dogma", "Celebrity" and "Magnolia". Charles E Brigden (Darth) has written a review on "Almost famous". He has also written an essay (lengthy and meaty) on "The Empire strikes back". Due to the not so big amount of FAQ I've put up a helpful section called Not So Frequently Asked Questions with all sorts of questions I'd love to get but never does. A new column about home theater and my history with it is up on associate Charles E Brigden's site ImperialDVD. |
The banners and photostills above are from MGM's upcoming wardrama with Bruce Willis who plays a law student who becomes a lieutenant during World war II. He's captured and asked to defend a black prisoner of war falsely accused of murder. It opens up on February the 15th and on this site there'll be daily updates with articles and facts about World war II. What's new on the filmfront then? Not much I can tell you. I've had the pleasure to watch some very good movies and some very BAD movies. There's been a lot of rumours surrounding "A.I", the movie that was supposed to have been late Stanley Kubrick's next movie after "Eyes Wide Shut". It seems as if Spielberg will produce/direct/write it and young "The sixth sense"-star Haley Joel Osment and British actor, Jude Law, will both be a part of the cast. "A.I" was first supposed to have been Kubrick's next project after "Full metal jacket" in 1994, but was then postponed and he directed "Eyes wide shut" instead, which was to become his last film. Kubrick's best films in my opinion are "2001- A space odyssey" and "Dr Strangelove", two films with such artistic visionary and dark humor that even not many genre films can top them. In the reviews section I've added some more reviews on "Hannibal", "The cell", "Crouching tiger, hidden dragon","The Manchurian candidate", "Almost famous" and "Solaris". Upon request The Arsenal zoo is put up. Have a laugh folks.C'mon U Spurs, Gooners out! I've put up a list of my favourite 50 movies here.
